Memorial Tower - LSU - Louisiana State University’s Memorial Tower is a Campanile-sytle structure built in 1923 to commemorate the 1,447 state-born soldiers killed during World War I. It reaches 175 feet (53 meters) above the center of campus and chimes every one-quarter hour. Somber and beautiful, especially at night.

Taos Pueblo - The high desert of Taos, New Mexico, is surrounded by snowcapped mountains dotted with evergreen pines. When you enter its northern pueblos, you're seeing a cultural landscape that's nearly as unchanged in its thousand year history as the natural one around you. Close to 90 Native Americans occupy the pueblos today, a few of whom are descendants of the original inhabitants. Some have chosen to immerse themselves fully in the traditions of ancestors, while others find a compromise with the modern world as craftsmen, who sell their art, pottery, and foods to tourists. The pueblo is one of only 21 natural and cultural landmarks in the United States recognized as treasures of international heritage by UNESCO.
